The Maremma of love

The Maremma Toscana is a fascinating, wild, and romantic territory at the same time. Inhabited since ancient times, it still preserves precious evidence of its Etruscan and Roman past. The Maremma is one of the most enchanting tourist destinations in central Italy, known for the beauty of its pure and unspoiled nature, as well as for its history and villages.

A place to be discovered, bordering Umbria and Lazio, offering leisure opportunities throughout the year. The main characteristic of Maremma is the variety of its territory: from the crystal-clear sea of the Argentario Coast to the mountains covered with dense forests of Amiata, passing through lake areas and plains, up to the green cultivated hills and natural thermal areas such as the Mulino Waterfalls in Saturnia.

Beyond borders

When we talk about Maremma, we are not only talking about Tuscany. This strip of land also known as ancient Etruria is an inclusive middle ground linked to neighboring regional realities. For historical reasons and more, Maremma is connected with the Alta Tuscia area where Lake Bolsena can be found along with some characteristic villages like Civita di Bagnoregio.

Savoring Maremma

Undoubtedly, Maremma is a part of Tuscany worth visiting because it has a lot to offer in terms of food and wine. The Maremman cuisine consists of simple and traditional dishes made with local and seasonal high-quality products, as well as wines, oils, and cheeses with a unique taste. The most representative dish is “acquacotta,” a symbol of the peasant tradition of this land, best enjoyed accompanied by two excellent wines such as Morellino di Scansano and Bianco di Pitigliano.
